Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah for their Champions League match against Inter Milan on Tuesday, according to French outlet RMC Sport.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward will miss the game following a disciplinary decision by manager Arne Slot after Salah’s public criticism over being left on the bench in Saturday’s 3-3 Premier League draw with Leeds United.
Despite attending Liverpool’s training session earlier, Salah will not be included in the squad for the high-profile European fixture. The decision comes just two days after the forward’s outspoken comments questioning his treatment by the club.
Struggling for Game Time
Salah has been a substitute in three of Liverpool’s last three matches. The Egyptian signed a contract extension last summer after months of speculation over his future, but recent benchings have left him frustrated.
He did not feature in the match against West Ham on November 30 and was only brought on as a substitute against Sunderland, which ended 1-1.
Speaking publicly, Salah expressed his disappointment, saying he feels the club has “let him down” and that he is being unfairly blamed for the team’s poor results. “I was made a lot of promises this summer, and so far I’ve been on the bench for three games, so I can’t say they’ve kept their promises,” he said.
A Difficult Season and Uncertain Future
This season has been challenging for Salah, who has scored just five goals and provided three assists in 19 appearances. “I’ve done so much for this club,” he said. “Respect is what I want. I don’t need to fight every day to keep my place because I’ve earned it.”
Salah also hinted at uncertainty over his future at Anfield, particularly with the Africa Cup of Nations approaching. “I don’t know what’s going to happen now,” he said. “I’ll be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and then leave for the Africa Cup. I don’t know what’s going to happen when I get there.”
His remarks sparked criticism from fans and former players, who argued that his comments focused on his personal situation amid a period of poor results for Liverpool.
