The United States says it will deport 15 Kenyan nationals who were convicted of various offences across the country. The move is part of a renewed push by the Trump administration to remove immigrants it describes as “dangerous” or “high-risk”.
The group appears on a new public database created by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The platform, called the “Worst of the Worst”, publishes details of undocumented immigrants arrested and convicted in the US.
It forms a central part of the administration’s tougher immigration strategy, which aims to make enforcement actions more visible to the public.
A New Phase in Trump-Era Immigration Policy
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who is leading the rollout, said the initiative follows a direct order from President Donald Trump. She said the agency is “fulfilling the president’s promise” by prioritising the removal of individuals convicted of serious crimes.
Officials say the database will eventually include hundreds of thousands of cases. It highlights offenders linked to violent crimes, gang activity, sexual offences, organised crime, drug trafficking and other major felonies.
Concerns Among the Kenyan Diaspora
The decision has sparked concern among Kenyan families and diaspora communities, many of whom depend on relatives living and working in the US. The public nature of the database has also raised fears that immigrant communities could face increased stigma and pressure.
According to DHS, the individuals set for removal were convicted of crimes ranging from assault and robbery to fraud, drug offences and child-related crimes.
Their cases were flagged by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as part of a wider national sweep targeting undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
The launch of the “Worst of the Worst” platform marks one of the sharpest escalations in the US government’s immigration enforcement efforts, reinforcing the administration’s message that deportations will continue to rise.![]()
